How to write your topic description, learning outcomes and biography to position yourself as an expert, get bums in seats, attract the interest of event planners... and serve as your best foundation for developing and describing your presentation.
And perhaps most importantly, your topic description and bio help you clarify for yourself the key points and the value for your audience – which in turn boosts your confidence as a speaker. That's why for some people, this Purposeful Storytelling Workshop is the ideal starting point for your talk, while for others it serves as the ideal end-point.
But all too frequently, session descriptions are boring, confusing or simply don’t highlight the real value. It’s not that the sessions themselves aren’t valuable; it’s usually a simple case of the speaker not knowing how to write it up effectively.
- The only reason why people would be interested in your topic/session (enough to attend).
- Creating a title, subhead, body copy and learning outcomes that all work together for a complete ‘pitch’.
- Differentiating yourself in a crowded market — pinpointing what you have to offer that’s different from all the other sessions on the same topic!
- The 5 (essential) frameworks to identify the most compelling learning outcomes.
- The difference between Category Challenges and Differentiating Challenges (and why it makes such a difference to your presentation)
- The three C's for evaluating your topic blurb and bio.
This is already a packed day, but in addition, we will borrow key bits from the rest of the Purposeful Storytelling curriculum as needed to help your story come alive. Each participant will have the opportunity to write their own blurb and bio, and have it critiqued, revised and refined.
