Dr. TA Loeffler brings 30 years of expertise leading people through significant life-changing experiences to every facet of her work. Her work and adventures have taken her to 52 different countries and all seven continents. In 2015, TA was named to the “Canada’s Greatest Explorers 100 List. TA will share her story titled “Home is Where Your Tent is” highlighting her adventure during this past summer, where she paddled a canoe 3080 km from Jasper, Alberta to Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories.
Deanne Ryan, a Social Worker for the last 12 years, grew up in a loving supportive home, but school was a nightmare! She always felt different from the other kids. She grew up feeling stupid, bullied and alone. By grade 12, she was one of those statistics of being unable to read or write. At the age of 23, she was diagnosed with severe Dyslexia. However, against insurmountable barriers she prevailed! In Deanne’s story titled “Watch me!!” She hopes that the audience understands that labels are neither good nor bad and that diversity is the way to increase a creative culture. Furthermore, she hopes that others will be inspired to say, “Watch me, I am enough!”… whenever they feel doubt or fear.
Trent Langdon is a practitioner, working with adolescents for more than 2 decades in schools, residential youth care, & community organizations. He is a teacher, nationally-certified school counsellor, peer-elected professional leader, and volunteer. Trent will share his story titled, “The Ping Pong Chronicles: One phone call and a lifetime of rewards”, where he contributes his personal and professional success to teenagers. Trent will highlight the great potential for personal growth in ‘reaching out’ and offering a helping hand.
Matthew Della Valle will share his story titled, “Desire to Inspire Hope: Inspiration and hope can come in our darkest moments!”
Matthew, who comes from a childhood of foster care in NL and ON, along with the trauma associated with living a life within that system, was diagnosed with PTSD in 2015. He shares his journey of healing, hope, & inspiration! His hope for others is to find the desire to make change through a renewed sense of compassion, empathy and genuine love for humanity.
Bridgette Abbott, a 27 year old graduate of Memorial University with a Bachelor of Primary/Elementary Education, as well as a second degree in Special Education, will share her story titled, “Miss, do you have a pencil? – How patience and kindness can change a child's world.”
Bridgette expresses her passion and belief that all students can learn and succeed, but not all on the same day in the same way! Her message to others, education is the most powerful weapon that we can use to change the world.
Tonya Whittle spent most of her life running away from her past. Tonya says “As a childhood sexual abuse survivor, I knew only fear for most of my life. I lived in self defence and self protection mode, hiding my past for fear of being broken and cutting someone with my shards. It wasn't until I learned to run to my past for healing and freedom and redemption that I learned what true living really is. Before that I was half living. I was surviving, existing, not living.“ Today, Tonya helps women reclaim their power in life by helping them reclaim all parts of themselves that have been lost through conditioning.
Kathy Stock is a professional speaker, author, mom of two, singer/songwriter and solo performing artist based out of St. John’s, NL. In 2012, Kathy performed her song “Overcome” at the very first TEDxstjohns event. Little did she know, 6 months after being on that stage, she would face life altering adversities of her own. Kathy’s message to others, good can come from terrible. The unpredictable junk that shows up in our lives can be recycled, not only for our own good but for the good of others.
Katie Power will send shivers down your spine, open your heart and ignite your positive energy. Her ability to reach out, engage and welcome you to share in her passion through music is one of her greatest gifts. Katie has a love for inspiring her fellow community members, and it shows. Some of Katie’s influences in music are; Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros and Florence & The Machine, … and Her inner spirit.
Paul Cumby works at Academy Canada as a Janitor during the days, but he spends his spare time writing and playing beautiful music inspired by life events. His most recent song was in dedication of Nevaeh, which he posted to Facebook and was shared 419 times. Paul’s goal as a musician is to connect with people, and help put into words, what is sometimes so hard to say. Paul will be sharing his heat warming tribute to Neveah you won’t want to miss it!
AND..... your hosts will also share their personal stories
Tracy Carberry is a pro, on human resource leadership. Bringing her background in community and human resource development over the last 12 years, she is that people person who communicates, connects and coordinates. Now as your momondays co-host, Tracy tells her story titled, “Stepping Stones in the Sky”.
Tracy believes that by following the guidance of the stars and embracing each opportunity along the way, even when you’re not sure of your path, you are building your charter. Things will happen, the stars will align, and your path forward will become clear – trust in that!
Barry Lewis Green has never really shared his ultimate source of resilience and strength. Inspired by Neveah… this momondays, that changes. You see, on August 20, 2015, Barry experienced a "shot across the bow". Thinking it a case of vertigo, Barry was told he had a brain bleed; a stroke. Laying in that hospital bed for 5 days, he had time to think on a special promise he had made years ago. Through the next year, he worked on getting back to that promise... and into the next two years, sharpening the blades on keeping it, challenges and all. It required a simple promise, kept.
